Welcome to Belize

We’re so excited to welcome you to Belize! Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or this is your first time visiting, Belize is a beautiful blend of tropical waters, lush jungles, and rich cultural history. Here’s what you can expect to make the most of your stay and prepare for the climate and unique surroundings.

Getting to Belize

Fly directly into Belize International Airport (BZE), the main gateway to the country. Several major airlines offer flights from the U.S. and other international destinations. From the airport, our resort shuttle will handle your transfer to our beautiful destinations in Hopkins and the jungle.

Transportation

Upon your arrival at Belize International Airport, our resort shuttle service will be ready to transport you to our first destination: The Lodge at Jaguar Reef, a tranquil waterside retreat in Hopkins. Enjoy a scenic drive of approximately 2.5 hours along picturesque roads leading to this stunning coastal haven.

As the wedding weekend approaches, the shuttle will provide a seamless transfer to our second resort in the heart of the jungle, where the celebrations will unfold amidst the lush, tropical surroundings.

Weather

In Belize in February offers warm, tropical weather, making it an ideal time for our celebration. Expect daytime temperatures to range from the mid-70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit (24-29°C), with cooler evenings perfect for outdoor festivities. While February is one of the drier months, it's always a good idea to be prepared for occasional light showers. Light, breathable clothing, sun protection, and staying hydrated will ensure you remain comfortable throughout the celebration.

What to Pack

  • Lightweight, breathable clothing: Belize’s tropical climate is warm and humid year-round, so pack lightweight fabrics like linen or cotton to keep cool.

  • Sun Protection: The sun can be strong, so be sure to pack sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat to stay protected.

  • Bug Spray: Especially as we move from the coast to the jungle, mosquito repellent is essential to keep bugs at bay, particularly in the evenings.

  • Essentials & Medications: The resort has everything you need for a comfortable stay. However, for things like prescription medications or specific personal items, we recommend packing those just in case, as they may not be as readily available on-site.

  • Comfortable Shoes: Whether you’re exploring the beach, the jungle trails, or local villages, comfortable walking shoes or sandals will serve you well.

  • Swimwear: Belize offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the water, so bring your swimsuit for beach time, dips in the pool, or even a relaxing soak in a riverside hot tub.

  • Wedding Attire: For our celebration, embrace the spirit of cocktail resort chic. Think lush, vibrant colors and lightweight fabrics that allow you to move freely in these tropical settings. Opt for elegant looks that blend sophistication with your personal style. Whether you choose flowing dresses or stylish resort wear, let your attire reflect the beauty of these natural surroundings. Please avoid wearing stiletto heels, as many of the areas you'll be walking on are grassy or natural paths. We recommend opting for wedged sandals or chunky heels instead. Pinterest Attire Board

At Jaguar Reef

During your stay at Jaguar Reef in Hopkins, the seaside location is perfect for unwinding or seeking adventure. Take in the tropical coastline by paddleboarding, kayaking, or snorkeling right off the resort. For those wanting a little more excitement, we’re planning a day trip to a nearby island for our guests—this will be a great opportunity to explore the pristine waters.

When we transition to the jungle at Sleeping Giant Lodge, nature lovers will be in their element. You can explore the surrounding area through guided short hikes, visit the nearby waterfalls, or enjoy river tubing and canoeing along the Sibun River.
